St. Mary’s Catholic School, a ministry of Holy Cross Catholic Church, is committed to:
+ Develop the whole child in accordance with Catholic beliefs and teachings;
+ Promote academic excellence in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment;
+ Develop in the students virtues and skills needed to use God-given talents for the betterment of themselves and service to others; and
+ Improve our community through living out the gospel message of Jesus Christ..
1. Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior of all humankind established the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church. It is through the church that the mission and transmittal of our Catholic faith continues.
2. Guided by the belief that God created all human beings and that they are all of inherent and equal worth, St. Mary’s Catholic School, a ministry of Holy Cross Catholic Church, exists to nurture and develop students through excellence in the academic program and extracurricular activities while maintaining its Catholic identity.
3. Parents are the first and primary educators of their children. Their participation and that of the wider community in our school is vital and strongly encouraged.
4. St. Mary’s Catholic School teaches Catholic doctrine through faith and reason, and provides opportunities for the practice of the faith, while respecting the faith traditions of our non-Catholic students.
5. St. Mary’s Catholic School shall continually reflect and re-evaluate its role in the education of each child.
6. Teaching begins with a love for children and an excitement for learning that will in turn foster and facilitate experiences for active, cooperative learning which incorporates challenging subject matter.
7. Teachers shall help students regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, gender, or learning style, to develop skills necessary to negotiate their everyday lives as well as the ability to effectively communicate and practice what they learn.
8. It is essential that students learn to cooperate successfully in groups, think through problems, empathize with each other, and plan for the future as they take an active and responsible role in their own learning throughout their lifetimes.
